Kindergarten through Second Grade |
Third through Sixth Grade |
Students at this age will have many enrichment opportunities. They will also be using Websites that will compliment what they are learning in their other classes (like math).
Additionally they will become familiar with basic computer skills like maneuvering the mouse comfortably and using the keyboard efficiently. So, although it looks like they're playing a game, in reality they might be learning to drag and drop or where characters are located on the keyboard. They will play keyboarding games to learn correct fingering as well. Young children learn most during play, so I intend to make this class fun for them. |
Here is where we get to the meat of the class. Keyboarding is an integral part of computers and must be learned properly. It is an important function of this class. Students will be writing reports in the future, and might even make computers their career. Without keyboarding, this cannot happen. There will be homework in keyboarding outside of class, but there will be time every class to practice here at school as well. If possible, having a keyboard at home will be useful (even if it's not hooked up to a computer).
Additionally they will learn productivity software and some coding. Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint will be utilized. Also, students will learn to manipulate their way around Google software that is similar (although they don't have as many features). Along the way they will gain industry-valued skills that will help them with whatever career they choose to pursue. Practice Card to Print |
